Just over a year ago, I did a list of showdowns between icons of Horror that I thought would have have been awesome. I stand by the ones I offered as I still feel tat if done, in whatever form, film, comic, anything, would have been awesome to see.
Well, after thinking, there was a few other ones I thought up that would have been just as kick ass and eventually I said what the hell, why not do another list? So here it is, my next list of Horror dream matches that I'd love to see.
Once again, I'll run down the characters, talk about there strengths (and to some extent weaknesses) and give a 'Tale of the Tape'.
In the deep depths of the Amazon River, a creature from millennia past lurks in a lagoon, living in its own world. A cross between man and fish, it attacks and kills all who venture into its territory. In the dark, foggy forests of Wales, a poor man has been bitten by a savage creature and doesn't die. Now when the moon is full, he transforms into a half wolf/half man creature and goes on the hunt.
Seemed appropriate to start with this one, since the last article I did started with two Universal icons. The Gillman has the advantage in height as he's nearly 7 ft tall, has a strong tolerance for pain and can heal, plus has sharp deadly claws. Not to mention that water is completely his element, although he's still deadly on land. The Wolf Man however is impervious to almost all attacks, as only silver can kill it. Also, it's only a monster for only the full moon time of the month, and is human so he could use his human side to any advantages he needed.
Tale of the Tape
The Gillman: Has Height, Strength and can heal. Also twice more dangerous if in the water.
The Wolf Man: Very powerful and can only be killed by silver. Can return to Human form as well.
Charles "Chucky" Lee Ray was about to get his after the brutal murders of several people, but with the use of Voodoo he escaped death by finding a new body, a Goody Guy doll. Now in the form of a doll, he takes advantage of his new body to kill innocent people and take revenge on those who where responsible for him having to take his body. The Leprechaun was one of many earth spirits that guarded a king's gold, but after the reign ended he stole some and became corrupt. Since then, almost anyone who has been holding his gold as been met with a horrific death, even if they where simply holding it or got between him and it.
These two are proof that size doesn't matter. Chucky is well gifted in voodoo, he's a very creative killer, and because of his doll body can come off as a toy and avoid suspicion. Also, he's often manipulated children to befriend him and has also had a partner before in his fellow killer/lover Tiffany, also a doll. Leprechaun has very few weaknesses however, them being a Four Leaf Clover and Iron. Along with powerful strength of resilient to injury, he has several powers when he's physically holding his gold, including teleporting, hovering, wish granting, and several others.
Tale of the Tape
Chuck: Knows several ways to kill, gifted in Voodoo and can pass him off as a doll. Also has had allies both human and possessed doll form as well.
Leprechaun: Impervious to wounds, has very few weaknesses and great strength. Gains several powers if in possession of his gold.
In the middle of nowhere Texas, a man who is a part of a family of cannibals, opts to kill his victims with a chainsaw. With his family, he kills, tortures and cuts up his poor victims and together, they eat them. Also in Texas, lives a family who are under the guise of a cult led by Dr. Satan. They all share a sick enjoyment of suffering brought unto others to the point where it's a way of life.
All I can say here is Redneck Civil War. Leatherface has shown to be short tempered and psychotic, and just loves to cut up his victims with his chainsaw (sometimes using other weapons as well), he loves it so that he'll chase his victims relentlessly. Also his family members have shown savage and sometimes sadomasochistic tendencies, as well as a bit more sanity as well. The Fireflies are devilishly manipulated, as Captain Spaulding will promote the local legend to lead victims to his family farm, where the rest will manipulate them to stay long enough to be captured. This family also has some tall and strong family members in Rufus and Tiny, as well as seductresses in Momma and Baby.
Tale of the Tape
Leatherface and Kin: Very handy with the Chainsaw as a weapon and relentless in his hunt. Family members are more intelligent and devious.
The Firefly Family: Manipulative and devious in many ways. Well armed and some members are physically imposing.
Santa Carla, California is having some troubles. Vampires are hunting the night and to make it worse, they're immature teenagers. Driving recklessly at night on their motorcycles and enjoying the boardwalk, they often make enemies of people and then later, to the horror of others, reveal their true form.
Julie Walker (The Return of the Living Dead III) was just a woman in love, but while getting too playful on a motorcycle with her lover, she meets her sudden end. Distraught in grief over the loss of his loved one, her boyfriend takes her back to his father's lab and uses a toxin to revive her, but she doesn't come back the same woman.
I've always loved the idea of zombies vs. vampires. The Lost Boys have the ability to fly, have immense strength and like most Vampires, are weakened only by holy water, a stake through the heart and sunlight, making them impervious to most other possible wounds. They also have the numbers gain in Vampires and an older more mature vampire often over sees them. Julie is also mostly impervious to wounds as she is a Zombie, she's also made her own body a weapon as she's pierced herself all over with sharp glass and needles which could be used too attack. She also has her lover and other human allies, plus she can turn others to Zombies as well, and doesn't have the weaknesses of the vampires.
Tale of the Tape
The Lost Boys: All with usual Vampire traits and higher numbers. Also in affiliation with an older, mature and powerful Vampire.
Julie Walker: Armed all over her body with weapons, can receive heavy injury and doesn't have the Vampire weaknesses. In affiliation with human allies and can create Zombies.
Poor Carrie had the unfortunate luck of being the daughter of a religious crazed mother and no father. All her life she's had religion beaten into her (both mentally and physically) and to top it all off, she's the butt of everyone's jokes and cruelty at school. She does however have one gift that no one else has, one which if not controlled can lead to misery and death: she can move things with her mind.
Silent Hill (I'm going with the movie version, not the video game) is a town that is cursed. After a poor girl was set on fire by a crazed cult, she made a deal with a devil to get vengeance on them all. Now the town of Silent Hill is permanently enshrouded in fog and ash with horrid creatures wondering the streets and buildings. Worse, when the sirens start, darkness comes and the world is turned into a hellish place with far worse evils than could be imagined.
If anything was to showcase the horrors of religious fanaticism, it's these two stories. Carrie obviously has the advantage in her telekinesis as she could move things and inflict destruction as well, not to mention she's full of rage and anger so she wouldn't think twice about doing it. Another factor on her side is that Silent Hill is inhabited by other people who could aid her if she needed it. The monsters of Silent Hill have not only the obvious numbers advantage, but also in variety as well as there are a number of different creatures with there own lethal means of attack, including Pyramid Head. To top it all off the one who's leading the hell that is Silent Hill, Alyssa, has powers of her own and will act if she feels the need to.
Tale of the Tape
Carrie White: Gifted telekenetic with rage and anger. Human Survivors of Silent Hill willing to aid her.
Demons of Silent Hill: Large number of them in different varieties. Pyramid Head and Alyssa in particular are dangerous.
A man once sought out a puzzle box to find either Heaven or Hell, the result was he got from it both Heaven and Hell united. Now a demon, he rules a hellish labyrinth as Pinhead, a being who can be either a demon or an angel, depending on your preference for pain and pleasure.
In New Orleans in the late 1800's, a slave became the lover of his owner's daughter and was tortured and killed for it, becoming a being named Candyman. Since then, anyone who says his name five times in the mirror will be greeted by him and will meet a horrible death.
A fitting demon on demon battle here, as both are spirits to be summoned and the end result is always pain. Pinhead has the advantage of having is own hellish world, the Labyrinth, and has powers that even extend into our world if the box is opened, using mainly hooks, chains and other weapons to torment people. Also he's had lieutenants under his command who serve him and share his desire for infliction. Candyman usually kills with his hook hand, which he's shown to be very gifted with, but also can control Bees as well to inflict harm. Also the only major weakness he had was a mirror from his first death, as he survived all other events, and has passed his hook onto other spirits to continue his terror.
Tale of the Tape
Pinhead: Has strong powers in both ours and his world. Also, has others who serve under him.
Candyman: Gifted with his hook and bees, and can only be stopped via his mirror. Can have others to take his place and continue his will.
Using the T-Virus, the Umbrella Corporation has created some of the most evil monsters the world has ever seen, but one of their most deadly was the Nemesis. An updated version of the Tyrant, this behemoth can be charged with more complicated tasks and will fulfill them till death.
William Birken also works for Umbrella and actually created a more powerful disease, the G-Virus. However, his bosses wanted it more than him, and sent men to kill him and take it, so he injected himself with the G-Virus and the end result was a new more dangerous monster than the T-Virus could ever create.
Yeah, I know, I'm cheating this one since both are in the same universe, but damn did Capcom miss a chance with this one. The Nemesis, like the Tyrant, stands tall at around 8 feet and has immense strength, is immune to pain and can take great damage, not to mention it has tentacle like weapons which inject the T-Virus and can mutate into something bigger and more deadly. Also, it has a higher brain function so it can do specifically demanded tasks as well as wield weapons like a rocket launcher. William Birken isn't so much tall but it is bulky as he's continually growing and changing, plus can infect other people which then help spawned other monsters as well. He did grow into larger, faster and more agile forms later on and even grew into a gigantic organic beast.
Tale of the Tape
Nemesis: Tall, strong, injury prone and has deadly tentacle attack. Higher intelligence then other T-Virus monsters, can use weapons and can evolve into a larger more threatening monster.
William Birken: More bulky, constantly changing and evolving and can take physical damage. Also evolving into more lethal forms and can produce other monsters as well.
In 1954, the Atomic Bomb turned a creature from ages past into a towering behemoth with fire breathing destruction, Godzilla. Even though they killed it, another one rose decades later and would wreak havoc ever since. In the ancient civilization of Atlantis, the people with vast wisdom constructed a guardian monster, Gamera. Now in present time, it has risen to return and now faces any threat to the human race.
Anyone who has read my articles knows I'm a huge Kaiju mark, for Godzilla in particular, so you know how much I'd love to see this fight. Godzilla is well known in physical combat along with his beam breath, he can also do a pulsar attack (his whole body releases beam energy and knocks back anything close), can heal in relatively quick time and has a more powerfull spiral breath attack. Also, he's gained a human allie in Mickie Segusa, a well trained psychic with standing amongst the Millitary. As a turtle, Gamera has his body naturally defended by his Shell and also has a Fireball attack, and has the ability to fly. Like Godzilla, he has a human ally but in a closer form with Asagi Kusanagi who wears a part from his shell that connects him to her and share each other's strength and pain.
Tale of the Tape
Godzilla: Has a few beam attack powers, gifted in physical fighting and can heal. Has a human ally who is well practiced in Psychic powers and has stance in the military.
Gamera: Has Fireball attacks, guarded by his shell and can fly. Linked to a human who can feed him energy.
There you are eight more battles I would have loved to have seen. Like last time, feel free to leave your results in the comment's section.
