Hailing from London England, Onethirtyeight plays a creepy mix of everything from extreme metal to goth to indie, but without fitting into any one of those genres. Kind of a square spike in a round hole, if you know what I mean. Having just released their third full-length, London Transmissions, on December 15th of last year to tremendous critical acclaim we jumped at the chance to include them in our 20 Questions section. We sat down with Dan, the man behind Onethirtyeight, and asked him 20 pointless and trivial questions.

1. Is this statement accurate? The Cure is to goth what Nine Inch Nails is to industrial.

I wouldn’t say so

2. Drugs or alcohol?

Both, but I tend to do more of the latter.

3. What's the one CD/record in your collection that you don't tell anyone about? For example, I own Mandy Moore's first album.

I have a Ken Dodd album called ‘All The Songs I Love’. I have quite a few but I’d never hide them… oh I have the Twisted Sister Christmas album.. I love Twisted Sister but that’s too much.

4. What does it sound like when you watch an American movie that has actors doing fake British accents?

It sounds like Keanu Reeves in Dracula

5. Would you rather make an album with Goblin or KLF?

I’d rather make an album with Goblin

6. Grebo or Madchester?

Madchester for the Factory link

7. What's the most expensive article of clothing you own?

My trousers - I've just ripped them & I’m devastated. Or my boots...

8. What's the last band that blew you away the first time you heard it?

Martyrdöd, that was a few days ago.

9. If you were responsible for torturing people in Hell, what music would you play?

I’d love to torture people in hell, it’d have to be Venom, I could do some amazing work whilst listening to Venom.

10. You get to make a music video with an unlimited budget. Who would you get to direct it?

David Lynch

11. You're approached to do a soundtrack for a movie. After reading the script you realize that this movie is the stupidest film ever conceived and is going to fail miserably. Do you walk away keeping your artistic integrity or do you do it and buy more integrity with the mountain of money they're going to pay you?

I’d do it, then I’d burn the mountain of money & call it art

12. Is it just my experiences or are Goth girls really the most dirty and whoriest girls alive? I mean this in the best and most loving way possible.

I think that's a predictable stereotype, everyone's different.

13. Do British people notice that Madonna has a fake British accent?

I’ve never paid much attention so I haven’t ever noticed. I mean, I’ve heard her songs…. Does she sing with a britsh accent?

14. My cousin Dave played me my first punk record and introduced me to my first girl with dyed hair. Who's the one person responsible for turning you onto the weirdness you love?

My sister was a massive Adam Ant so I was brainwashed from a very early age. She had the pencil case set and everything. I wanted to be like Marco Pirroni.

15. Who's the first girl that ever broke your heart?

No one has ever broke my heart. I’m pretty sure it’s easy to break though.

16. Danny Boyle, Neil Marshall or Jake West?

Danny Boyle

17. Would you rather live in a mansion in the middle of nowhere or a penthouse at the top of a skyscraper?

A penthouse at the top of a skyscraper

18. Name one person that all your peers find funny that you just don't get.

Frank Sidebottom. I think he looks funny but he makes me feel nauseous.

19. You romanticly hit it off with someone on the internet and decide to meet them in person. What would ruin it quicker, really bad teeth or a missing arm?

Bad teeth. Missing limbs wouldn’t be a problem.

20. When was the last time you hit someone?

Quite a while ago...
