On November 22, 1987, the weird was brought to the city of Chicago, Illinois. As millions sat down to watch the Bears football highlights on WGN the strangest thing happened: the sports report was replaced by a desconcerting clip of an anonymous man in a Max Headroom mask cavorting on the screen in front of a rotating piece of corrugated sheet metal. There was no sound, only an electronic hum, and it only lasted 20 secounds before WGN employees managed to switch the feed, but most viewers were left creeped out and wondering what had happened.

This would turn out to be the first of two such signal intrusions, and one of the coolest moments in television history.
